From Chords to Music
Even the world’s masters are self-taught musicians. Most of them have learned the inner workings of their instruments and have found their music in peculiar and informal ways. Similarly, self-taught musicians usually did not have the liberty of learning formal note reading, which actually serve as the words for music. Guided by their own sense of rhythm and measure and instinct to making good music, they were able to create distinct music. This is the case for most of the successful guitarists. With sole understanding of guitar chords, they were able to create great music.
Guitarists have created their own music notation. Instead of being confined in understanding and learning the rules of using musical elements such as notes, rests measure, sharp and flat and many others, they make use of simple symbols that indicates the fret positions in creating musical tunes. In establishing the guitar tablature, even the novice guitar players are enabled to play guitar musical pieces on their own since its understanding is universal among those who are passionate in playing the guitar. Guitar tablature may have certain flaws but overall, it is understood by most guitar players as well as learners.
